Progress by JayFoxRox on XQEMU.

Okay, enough shenanigans, time for something serious! :)

In case you haven't seen them, I wanted to share a few screenshots of progress from JayFoxRox's Linux branch.  Although he says he's busy with University studies, etc., it looks like he's got more time on his hands than I do!  The screens speak for themselves, have a look!

Xbox BIOS logo:

Retail Xbox Dashboard:

4x4 Evo 2

Conker: Live and Reloaded (Demo)

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2 (Demo)

Forza (Demo)

Rollercoaster Tycoon

Smashing Drive (looks perfect now).

Sonic Heroes (E3 Demo; ingame)

Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions (Demo)

"What else can it do?"  That's a good question.  One of these days, I should get a Ubuntu or Linux Mint installation going on my Mac Pro.  Unfortunately, I don't have a video card with a Mac compatible EFI, so I can't see the boot screen and select what OS I want to run.  My PC is in my office, so I have limited use of it right now, so I'll have to think of something later.

So, if you haven't already, take a look at his github fork:

Just want to keep you all updated on what is happening.

EDIT: For all of you Rare fans, now that we're getting somewhere with Conker, please... stop asking me if it can or cannot be done.  Kthnxbai!  :)

  1. Cool! I wanted to try messing around with QEMU/KVM to see if I could get GPU passthrough to a Windows guest going, and while I'm at it it might be an interesting idea to check out XQEMU as well. I even happen to have an NVIDIA card (which works on nouveau).

Also, that's a whole lot of windows for that XFCE system tray :D

    1. That could work, but on newer NV chipsets I don't think it would be that easy. I'm not an expert on QEMU's code design though. But if you want, have at it! The more implementations, the merrier. =)

  2. Nice Job, keep up the good work. xD

  3. Nice!!! Finally some love for the xbox. I hope this will have a brighter future than cxbx. Blueshogun, somewhere in future, will you try to port this to windows?

    1. Before doing that, we need a merger of all existing branches. This has already been ported to windows.

  4. Amazing progress on Linux, we know very much this xbox emulator will run better on this OS. I hope we can able to enjoy as well on windows.
Shogun have you tried JSRF on Linux?
How many ghz and memory we need to run smoth?
You able to release the emulator already compilled?
SEGA is make me nuts, we wants to buy capcom in a few days and now they don´t. It's amazing. If they give us a shit like real fans, they could really care about porting that JSRF right away to Windows and Linux on Steam. Shame!
    See ya!

    1. Since I get asked this all the time, I need to write a FAQ. :)

  5. Awesome!
I hope you can port some of that stuff to your emulator.

  6. Thanks for doing this, unfortunaly with me and many others we dont have a xbox anymore and would like to play our games on pc, make it happen pls.

  7. а смогу играть в SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 2006
